Their official PR channels went dead silent.
I’ve heard something, but it’s unlikely to be true, so I’m keeping it to myself for now.

If you were expecting them to go announcing that they are leaving the WEC I wouldn’t hold your breath. An announcement like that wouldn’t become public until after the season is completed. I am hoping they stick around though.

I don’t. The Japanese don’t give up that easily. But it’s weird how they’re not saying anything.
What I’ve heard is not in the direction of a withdrawal.

This kind of loss can shake even the strong-willed. Toyota has had enough of close enough, so I wouldn’t blame them if they quit WEC, or worse, pull the plug on all their factory race programmes.
But at the same time, they have closed the gap between them and Porsche. They know they can run longer stints on one fuel fill-up and still push the pace. They’re not one to just throw that away in a fit. If anything, this might just will them on to take the world title this year, and test, test, test in the run up to 2017.
This is the worst punishment Le Mans can give any team, but to be exiled forever because of it would be a worse fate.
The question now isn’t whether or not Toyota will still be in the WEC and challenge Le Mans, but whether or not they can come up with another “all” to give next season.

Toyota released this statement about the race which included this line:
The team will analyse the cause of the problem as part of its preparations for the 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours, which begin immediately.
so that makes it sound like they’ll be back in the WEC next year. They also spent a ton of money developing an extremely competitive car in the TS050 so I doubt they’d drop out or switch series after just a year of racing.

My information is that they could pull a VAG, rather than a Peugeot.

A split?

Probably being put through some kind of seppuku ritual for their failure. Jk I’m pretty sure they just don’t want to talk about it.

Sort of. They are considering a Japan based, Lexus team, alondside Toyota. The new team would use mostly R&D money after the Porsche model.
